LUCINDA BRUCE LONDON
Originally inspired by Elizabethan regalia, infused with a reverence for cat and stitched with a frisson of glamour, the Lucinda Bruce collection of detachable ruffled collars and cuffs was first unveiled in the Spring of 2021.
Fashioned from delicately ruffled silk and fastened with a gros grain bow or lace band, the collars and cuffs are feminine and dramatic, with a hint of coquettishness.
Designer Lucinda Bruce recalled seeing portraits of Elizabeth I at National Portrait Gallery and being fascinated by the elaborately frilled and ruffled lace collars around her neck She noticed how this single piece of embellishment framed and flattered the face, creating an aura of elegance.
Lucinda loved the idea of creating a contemporary collection of detachable ruffled collars designed to add a glamorous flourish to an ordinary top, be it a plain jumper or a simple tee, like a punctuation mark, an accessory that instantly transforms any outfit. She soon added cuffs to the collection, giving women more options to further customise their outfits with their own individual flair.
Well constructed yet lightweight, the collars and cuffs are practical pieces that pack easily and are convenient to travel with.
Handcrafted in the UK, the collars are 100% silk and come in black, navy, shot (blue/violet) bronze, cream and off white. The cuffs are available in black, navy and cream.
For summer 2022, Lucinda will introduce cotton in multicolour prints.
ABOUT LUCINDA BRUCE:
As a child, Lucinda Bruce was partly raised in the south of France. She has always been drawn to the effortless way in which art, fashion, simplicity and sophistication intersect among the French; this in turn has strongly influenced her own visual vocabulary. She returned to France, to study history of art at l’Ecole du Louvre in Paris, and went on the work in the art world at a leading contemporary in Cork Street, London. In 2008 she revealed her love for another art - that of entertaining at home in Flavour of the Month, a lifestyle book she co-authored that featured seasonal recipes as well as tablescapes.
A desire for individualistic expression through fashion led her to regularly scour haberdashery shops for trimmings, sequins and feathers she would then used to transform the most basic of clothes into customised pieces. She brings that same desire to her designs for Lucinda Bruce London.
Travel and other cultures are enduring sources of inspiration; apart from France and the UK, she has lived in Australia and Hong Kong. Married, and a mother of three, Lucinda currently divides her time between London and Wiltshire.
